Annie Lovering, RN BN, Medical Assessment Policy Analyst, Driver Fitness, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI)

Bio:
Annie joined MPI in 2012 as a Medical Fitness Administrator, where she analyzed complex medical information and determined individuals’ medical fitness to drive. In 2018, she transitioned into her current role as a Policy Analyst for Driver Fitness.

In this role, Annie leads the development and implementation of internal policies related to medical fitness for driving. She collaborates closely with the medical community in Manitoba, other driver licensing authorities, and medical experts across Canada. Annie also serves as co-chair of the national Driver Fitness Overview Group, where she provides oversight and guidance on the maintenance of the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators’ National Safety Code 6 – Medical Standards for Drivers.

Prior to her work at MPI, Annie held clinical roles as a General Duty Nurse and Clinical Resource Nurse in Internal Medicine at the Health Sciences Centre.

Laura Enns, RN BN, Supervisor, Medical Assessment, Driver Fitness, MPI

“Drivers Fitness”

Bio:
Laura joined MPI in 2013 as a Medical Fitness Administrator. In 2016, she advanced to the role of Medical Assessment Supervisor, where she oversees the Medical Compliance and Assessments Program within the Driver Fitness department.

In her current role, Laura supports the development and implementation of operational plans and policies related to driver fitness. She works closely with the Manitoba medical community and contributes to advancing consistent practices within the field. Laura is also an active member of the national Driver Fitness Overview Group.

Prior to joining MPI, Laura worked in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Health Sciences Centre and at the University of California San Francisco Medical Centre.

Dr. Ian Kasloff

“Diabetes Micro/MacroVascular Complications”

Bio:
Dr Kasloff is a Family Physician with a focused practice in diabetes care and obesity.  He graduated from the University of Manitoba Max Rady College of Medicine in 2017 and completed his family medicine residency at Family Medical Center St Boniface with additional training at Scripps in San Diego.

After spending several years in a mixed urban and rural practice in Winnipeg and Lac Du Bonnet, Dr Kasloff is now a full-time associate family physician at Winnipeg Clinic where he takes consults related to Diabetes and Obesity, practicing in an allied health team based setting. He is a member of the Peer Support Network and is involved in a variety of research endeavors as an investigator related to cardiorenal health in diabetes and obesity care, and has worked in establishing primary care journal club groups to share clinical updates in a wide variety of topics. 

Dr. Colette Seifer

“Approach to Syncope”

Bio:
Dr Colette Seifer is a cardiologist at St Boniface Hospital as well as a Professor of Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.  

Dr Seifer attends on the Clinical Teaching Units at St Boniface Hospital as well as the Arrhythmia Service and is the Medical Director for the Inherited Arrhythmia Clinic. 

Dr Seifer has won numerous teaching awards at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level and has supervised over 30 resident research projects, authored or presented over 100 abstracts and publications as well as authored five book chapters. Dr Seifer is an active member on Canadian Cardiovascular Society Guideline Committees.

Bio:
Dr. Denise Black is a graduate of the University of Manitoba School of medicine, and completed residency training in Ob/Gyn in Manitoba as well. In a career which spans 4 decades, she has been involved in both the academic and private practice systems.

While in academia, she served as the Director of the Post graduate medical education program in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and served as an examiner for the Royal College. Attending a menopause conference in 2011 sparked interest in menopause management, and this has fostered collaborations with many organizations to create education and educational materials tailored to the needs of patients and care providers.

In the field of menopause, Dr. Black has published several peer reviewed articles and is passionate about making menopause education and menopause care accessible to all, and in a timely fashion.
