The Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS®) is a not-for-profit society that offers legal advice, risk-management services, legal assistance and professional liability protection related to nursing practice in Canada.
You can join or renew your coverage here: https://cnps.ca/join-or-renew/
NPAM also highly recommends purchasing the additional Supplementary Protection Program through CNPS, given the recent increase in NP reviews with CRNM.
As an existing CNPS beneficiary, you can apply for the Supplementary Protection Program, which extends your eligibility so that you may request legal assistance in the case of a complaint made to your nursing regulator.
For $130 plus applicable taxes for the year, the program’s value is put into perspective when you consider the fact that the cost of retaining a lawyer experienced in health law for a regulatory complaint or disciplinary hearing can range between $350 to $600 per hour.
