Nurse Practitioners provide comprehensive clinical care including the diagnosis and management of disease/illness, prescribing medications, ordering/interpreting laboratory/diagnostic tests, and initiating referrals to specialists. NP practice does not require physician supervision. Because of their positive contributions and the ability of NPs to improve access to health services, British Columbia’s introduction of NPs has increased access to care with further room to grow. We look forward to caring for you!
NPAC-AIIPC is the national voice for Nurse Practitioners, with the goal of advocating for, and reducing barriers to NP practice. Nurse practitioners work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to not only provide individual patient care, but also to improve practice and community/population health, using evidence-informed, best practice and research to develop, implement and evaluate care.
The NLNPA is a professional organization that supports and advances the professional interests of its members by promoting a social, economic and political environment in which Nurse Practitioners are able to provide health care services that meet the highest professional standards of practice.
Since its founding in 2004, the NPAA has been diligently working within our Mission & Values to change the face of NP practice in Alberta. Through endeavours such as media campaigns, blog, and our newly updated website we are striving to increase the public’s awareness of the NP role and practice. For our members, we are growing partnerships with key stakeholders in Alberta to remove barriers to practice, and celebrating the resultant successes such as legislative changes and more.
SANP works with stakeholders across the province in all levels of government to advocate for additional NP positions and expansion of the role in order to provide consistent and quality care for the residents of Saskatchewan. We value our relationship with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) and the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA), and continue to work with them to improve NP practice, patient safety, and job satisfaction. SANP is proud to maintain and foster new relationships with other professional practice groups and associations.
This group of pioneers worked hard at raising the visibility of the role of the NP by promoting the role through media interviews. They also lobbied elected officials and the leaders of other disciplines to create an awareness of the real contribution that nursing could make in the health care system. NPs even influenced nursing leaders who were still unfamiliar with the potential for this role.
The goal of NPANS is to enhance the health of Nova Scotians through the advocacy, support and development of the nurse practitioner (NP) role.
The KEY GOAL of the Network is to become an international resource for nurses practising in Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Nursing Roles (APN) roles, and interested others (e.g. policymakers, educators, regulators, health planners)
To ensure holistic care for all, nurse practitioners integrate knowledge gained through research, theory, clinical expertise, individuals and their families, colleagues, collaborators, and self-reflection. Nurse practitioners serve a meaningful role in improving access to care for all Islanders.
The Prince Edward Island Nurse Practitioner Association (PEINPA) is a non-profit, volunteer-led special interest group that supports and advances the professional interests of its membership: nurse practitioners (NPs) and nurse practitioner students. PEINPA facilitates the efforts of NPs to provide accessible, efficient and effective healthcare at the highest standards of practice.
(NP) is an advance practice nurse who has completed a master’s level university degree and has advanced knowledge and clinical expertise to diagnose, treat, and manage disease or illness. NPs prescribe medications, order/interpret laboratory/diagnostic tests, and refer to specialists when needed. NPs do not work under the direction of a physician but work in collaboration with physicians, specialists and other healthcare team members such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, Extra Mural Program, pharmacists, etc. NPs provide comprehensive clinical care that blends the practice of medicine with the practice of nursing.
With more than 117,000 members, AANP is a community of individuals and organizations who are united by their commitment to provide exceptional patient care. Your collective voices form The Voice of the Nurse Practitioner® and strengthen your association’s ability to advocate for NPs and their patients. AANP offers a comprehensive portfolio of valuable membership benefits, so regardless of the membership type you choose, your investment can easily pay for itself.
NPs are quickly becoming the health care provider of choice for millions of Americans. As clinicians who assess, diagnose and treat acute and chronic diseases, as well as counsel, coordinate care and educate patients regarding their illnesses, NPs bring a comprehensive perspective to health care. Discover why Americans make more than 1.06 billion visits to NPs annually.
