“I get great fulfillment from supporting patients during this period of their lives. Our role is uniquely positioned to offer regular and up to hour long appointments for patients, specific to their mental health during the perinatal period. I believe this is hugely beneficial to our patient population. I enjoy having the ability to take the time to work with patients and hopefully to make a positive difference in their lives.”
“My role includes education to colleagues and the military community, participation of committees, and patient safety analysis. Being part of a truly multidisciplinary and supportive team restored my passion for healthcare and nursing.”
“As a nurse practitioner, I find it most fulfilling to empower patients to take the lead on their own health and wellness. I focus on building a strong rapport with my clients, which allow me to connect and build trust and understanding with my patients.”
“This multifaceted role not only challenges me but also keeps me engaged and continuously learning, which is a core value I hold dear. Each aspect of my work reinforces my passion for healthcare, education, leadership and research, driving me to excel and make a meaningful difference.”
A lack of access to rural primary care when she and her premature son needed it the most cemented her intention to one day become a Nurse Practitioner. Vicki is the first Nurse Practitioner to compliment the interdisciplinary team at Virden Health Centre and additionally provides primary care to her home community of Reston. She is also responsible for the overall coordination and evaluation of medical services to a 45-bed long term care facility in Virden.
